educational materials & Clothing

In U.S. schools and homes there is frequent turnover and discarding of educational curricula and books. In rural Ghanaian schools and villages, these materials are rare and treasured.

Many children without parents are folded into the school and village community and are in need of usable clothing.

We collect used books, educational materials, and clothing in good condition for all grade levels and hand carry or ship it to Akroso and Danquah villages.

We have a network of relationships and contacts in place at these sites. We begin with listening to detailed needs and requests; we continue with follow up, accountability, and ongoing reattunement for long term sustainability.

Phil’s Village

Akroso Islamic School in Eastern Region

Phil is Eugene’s father and was raised in Akroso village. Phil’s mother recently passed away, and was taken care of impeccably by Hannah. Hannah is a teacher at Akroso Islamic school, and cooked Phil, Eugene, and Heidi a lovely stew at Phil’s mother’s house after our visit to the school in June of 2024.

Daniels’s Village

Danquah School & Orphanage in Central Region

Daniel has been a caretaker in Eugene’s maternal grandmother’s home in Accra, but was raised in Danquah village. Daniel’s home village includes an orphanage as part of the community, with many additional children to care for who are in need of clothing. When Daniel, Eugene and Heidi visited his village in June 2024, Daniel introduced us to his aunties and siblings. Daniel is a special colleague who was incredibly attentive and sacrificial in caring for us during our entire stay in country.

Danquah School

Spring 2025

Danquah orphanage and school is waiting for its first redistribution of educational materials and usable clothing via Resource Together’s first shipment from the west coast of the U.S. to Accra, Ghana this spring. Over 40 crates of books and clothes are ready to be shipped, many of which will be allocated to Danquah.

We are working hard to raise the remaining $4,000 needed to fund a half container shipment, which will allow us to send the medical and educational supplies collected so far.

Release excess | Resource others | Refresh yourself

There is refreshment available for westerners in this endeavor. The energy, values, and way of being in Ghanian culture is a balm for the drained, productivity-obsessed, isolated existence of the west. Engage and make contact with grounded and embodied vibrancy, being together and helping one other over checking off the to do list, unhurried joyful presence, and patience no matter what the day brings.
